February 1, 2025 by Wyman Content Team Leave a Comment

A Vital Opportunity for Hoteliers to Make Their Voices Heard

By AAHOA Staff

The AAHOA 2025 Spring National Advocacy Conference (SNAC), scheduled for March 11-12 in Washington, D.C., comes at a pivotal moment for the hospitality industry. With a new administration taking the reins in Washington, the decisions made in the nation’s capital over the next four years will have far-reaching implications for hotel owners nationwide. This conference allows AAHOA Members to connect with lawmakers, discuss pressing industry issues, and ensure their voices are part of the national dialogue.

AAHOA Advocacy in Action

The two-day event will begin with a legislative learning session to give attendees the tools and knowledge to communicate effectively with lawmakers. This session will cover key legislative priorities and equip members with talking points to advocate for the issues that matter most to hoteliers.

SNAC also features a Congressional Reception, where AAHOA Members can interact directly with elected officials and their staff in a more informal setting. This reception is a cornerstone of the event, fostering relationships that can lead to meaningful policy changes in the future. Past events have seen participation from nearly 30 Members of Congress, underscoring the growing recognition of AAHOA’s infl uence in Washington.

Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill

The highlight of the conference is a full day of meetings on Capitol Hill, where AAHOA Members will engage directly with senators, representatives, and their staff. These meetings are more than just a chance to share concerns – they are an opportunity to collaborate on solutions to some of the industry’s biggest challenges. Topics like access to capital, credit card competition, and regulatory burdens will be front and center, focusing on advancing legislative solutions that benefi t small business owners.

“As hotel owners, we understand our businesses and the industry better than anyone,” said AAHOA Chairman Miraj S. Patel. “It’s crucial that policymakers hear directly from us as they shape policies that impact our livelihoods.”

Building Relationships That Drive Change

SNAC has proven to be a powerful platform for AAHOA Members to establish and strengthen relationships with lawmakers. These connections amplify the hospitality industry’s voice and lay the groundwork for future advocacy efforts.

This year’s SNAC takes on added signifi cance as the country navigates the transition to a new administration. Decisions made now will shape the regulatory and economic landscape for years, and AAHOA Members have a unique opportunity to infl uence these outcomes. Participation is vital whether you’re a seasoned advocate or attending for the fi rst time.

PAC Contributions

In 2024, AAHOA achieved a historic milestone by raising over $1 million for its PAC, underscoring the association’s growing infl uence in Washington, D.C. This record-breaking fundraising effort highlights the commitment of AAHOA Members to advocating for policies that support the hospitality industry. These funds will play a critical role in amplifying AAHOA’s voice throughout the year, enabling members to build stronger relationships with lawmakers and drive meaningful change through advocacy.
