We Don’t Just Follow the Rules, We Help Shape Them
When it comes to safety, regulations, and compliance, hoteliers are on the front lines. We know what works, what doesn’t, and what just adds red tape. That’s why AAHOA doesn’t sit back and wait for decisions to be made – we advocate. We speak up at city halls, state capitols, and on Capitol Hill to make sure our members are heard before the ink dries.
Whether it’s fighting unfair inspection practices, opposing overreaching labor mandates, or ensuring building codes are realistic for small business owners, AAHOA is pushing back – and pushing forward – where it counts.
Regulations Should Protect, Not Punish
The goal of any regulation should be to protect people – guests, workers, and owners. But too often, the burden falls on small business owners trying to do the right thing with limited resources. That’s why AAHOA is laser-focused on ensuring laws and policies make sense in the real world.
We’re not anti-regulation – we’re anti-bad regulation. We’re working to keep you informed, prepared, and one step ahead, whether through Town Halls, advocacy updates, or direct meetings with lawmakers who need to hear from those who live this work every day.
Compliance Should Not Be a Legal Trap
Too often, hotel owners face frivolous lawsuits that exploit well-meaning regulations, from ADA compliance to human trafficking protocols and even bed bug claims. That’s why AAHOA established the Hospitality Arbitration Program Committee, an ad hoc group advising the board on how to better protect our members.
This committee is exploring strategic arbitration models, policy recommendations, and key partnerships to reduce legal vulnerability and help our members focus on running their businesses, not just defending them. Compliance should protect guests and owners alike, not become a backdoor to litigation.
This is about protecting what we’ve built and building what’s next.
As your Chairman, I’ll keep fighting for policies that make sense and give you the tools to stay ahead. Because when we protect our businesses, we protect our people – and the future of this industry.
