Strong Roots, Stronger AAHOA

May 14, 2026 by Today's Hotelier Leave a Comment

By Rahul Patel, AAHOA Chairman (2026-2027)

A Moment of Reflection

Standing in Philadelphia at AAHOACON26, surrounded by thousands of AAHOA Members, I found myself reflecting on an unlikely journey.

It’s hard to believe that my professional path began with an agricultural degree and a life connected to farming. When I first came to the United States, I could not have imagined that one day I would be serving as Chairman of AAHOA, representing thousands of hotel owners across the country.

Like many of our members, my journey into hospitality was not linear. It was built through hard work, learning along the way, and the support of family and community.

That spirit of perseverance is something I saw throughout AAHOACON26 in Philadelphia. Gathering in the birthplace of American independence during the nation’s 250th birthday added a meaningful layer to this year’s convention. It was a reminder that leadership often starts with humble beginnings and grows through dedication and opportunity.

For me, the AAHOA community represents exactly that.

Leadership Rooted in Service

AAHOACON26 was an incredible celebration of our members, our Industry Partners, and the strength of our association. From educational sessions and networking opportunities to the vibrant Trade Show floor, the energy throughout the convention reflected the entrepreneurial spirit that defines AAHOA.

As I begin my term as Chairman, I do so with a deep sense of responsibility and gratitude.

Our members are innovators, risk-takers, and leaders in their communities. They create jobs, build businesses, and continue to shape the future of hospitality across the country.

Leadership, in my view, is not about standing in front, but about working alongside others, listening carefully, and making thoughtful decisions that benefit the entire community.

Over the coming year, our focus will remain clear: Advocating for our members, strengthening educational opportunities, and expanding partnerships that help hotel owners operate more efficiently and profitably.

AAHOA’s success has always come from the strength of its members. When we share ideas, support one another, and stay focused on the future, there is no limit to what we can accomplish together.

Looking back on my journey – from studying agriculture to leading within this extraordinary organization – I am reminded that opportunity often grows in unexpected places.

And with the strength of this community behind us, the future of AAHOA has never looked brighter.
