The Tiller House in Laguna Hills Won Top Honors at the 22nd Annual Hospitality Design (HD) Awards
LAGUNA HILLS, CA—Tiller House, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott, has been officially named the winner of the Select Service Hotel category at the 22nd Annual HD Awards, presented by Hospitality Design magazine. This prestigious award, announced on May 5, 2026, in Las Vegas, recognizes the industry’s most innovative and exceptional design achievements from over 850 global entries.
Owned by Elite Hospitality, Inc. and led by Principal Kevin Akash, the 76-room boutique hotel sits on the historic land of the former Moulton Ranch. The award-winning design is a collaboration between Los Angeles-based interior design firm Atwater Inc. Studio and Huntington Beach-based architecture firm HMR Architecture.
The hotel’s “Coastal Farmhouse” aesthetic pays homage to the legacy of Orange County sheep herder Lewis and Nellie Gail Moulton. Its distinctive interiors feature clubhouse-style lobby spaces, custom headboard walls, and farmhouse-style barn doors that blend historical narrative with modern luxury.
“We are honored to see this project recognized by Hospitality Design and celebrated alongside so many inspiring teams,” noted Atwater Inc Studio in a statement following the win. The hotel will be featured in the May/June issue of Hospitality Designmagazine, showcasing its status as a standout among the year’s best hospitality projects.
