A preview of what’s to come at AAHOACON26
By Cathleen Draper
From April 8 to 10, hotel owners, future hospitality professionals, and industry leaders will convene in Philadelphia for the 2026 AAHOA Convention & Trade Show.
AAHOACON26 coincides with the country’s semiquincentennial. In the city where our nation declared independence – and where the foundation of our laws were written – attendees will honor the freedom to lead, the pursuit of opportunity, and the legacy of the Asian American immigrants who laid the groundwork for the hospitality industry we know today.
Like the nation’s 250th anniversary, this year’s AAHOACON promises to be a milestone event. Between workshops and education sessions, networking opportunities, working the Trade Show Floor, and three distinct celebrations, attendees can expect to learn, connect, discover, and celebrate both the history and future of AAHOA.
Seek Inspiration
AAHOACON26 will feature three keynote speakers at each of its General Sessions.
On Wednesday, mindset coach and motivational powerhouse Rahul Kapoor returns to the AAHOACON stage. With a background in psychology and experience working with Fortune 500 companies and professional sports teams, Kapoor helps listeners unlock the mental tools needed to lead in a changing economy. With unrivaled energy, he provides the strategies hotel owners need to scale their businesses and their mindsets.
CEO of Inspire Brands Paul Brown will address attendees on Thursday. A proven growth leader who knows what it takes to scale brands, strengthen franchise systems, and drive results across locations, Brown holds an operator-focused perspective that spans hospitality, franchising, brand excellence, owner relations, and innovation at scale.
Comedian Rajiv Satyal will deliver the closing keynote speech on Friday. His breakout “I AM INDIAN” video has surpassed 100 million views worldwide, and he famously opened for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi before a crowd of 17,000. Satyal brings humor that resonates – especially with diverse owner communities like ours. Expect laughter, reflection, and a reminder of why connection and belonging matter just as much as performance.
Learn Something New
This year’s education sessions will feature advice and timely insights from hospitality leaders and industry experts. Sessions will cover, among other topics, technology, artif icial intelligence, franchise relations, legal matters, and alternative assets.
James Ferguson, author of The Confetti Culture Playbook, will address attendees during two keynote education sessions on Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10. Ferguson encourages leaders to rethink workplace culture not as a perk, but as a strategic advantage that strengthens connection, boosts morale, and improves performance.
As the hospitality industry faces continued labor shortages, Ferguson’s sessions will highlight methods for building a more engaged and motivated workplace and how connection and purpose drive team momentum. Attendees will walk away with practical insights to adapt within their own organizations.
Dr. Sudhir Mehta will also deliver two keynote education sessions on Thursday and Friday. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience across technology, entrepreneurship, and family businesses – and with deep ties to the hotel industry – Mehta helps founder-led and multigenerational owners move beyond “founder mode” to build strong, future-ready leadership teams.
During his sessions, he will share frameworks to strengthen leadership and accountability; insights on enhancing communication, retention, and operational execution; and actionable approaches owners can apply within their teams.
Tailored to You
The highest-attended AAHOACON educational event of the past two years returns to AAHOACON26: the Independent Hoteliers Summit. Pack with insights, strategies, and networking opportunities, this workshop is designed to help independent hoteliers elevate their businesses. Featuring networking, vendors, and educational sessions with real case studies; attendees will learn how to run their hotels – and achieve profitability – using best practices and state-of-the-art technology.
Make plans to arrive early: On Wednesday, April 8, Kalibri will host its inaugural Certified Hotel Profit Analyst (CHPA) program. This half-day experience will equip hotel owners with practical tools and strategies to strengthen profitability, improve cash flow, and increase long-term asset value.
The HerOwnership Session on Thursday, April 9, is designed to educate, empower, and elevate women in hotel leadership. During the session, women hoteliers will have the opportunity to network with other female owners and industry leaders and discover resources and support. Author and C-suite executive Shira Miller is the keynote speaker. On Friday, April 10, a dedicated HYPE Session will leave young professionals with the tools they need to thrive on their entrepreneurial journeys.
Mark the Occasion
At the end of a busy day learning, networking, and cultivating new business opportunities, attendees will spend their evenings reconnecting with friends, meeting new faces, and celebrating AAHOA and one another.
AAHOACON26 celebrations kick off on Wednesday, April 8, with an electrifying Welcome Reception. Desi Junction DJs will bring nonstop beats, crowd-moving mixes, and floor-shaking energy, setting the tone for the week ahead.
On Thursday, attendees will celebrate the spirit of America, the energy of Philly, and the power of the AAHOA community at the Stars, Stripes & Liberty Nights gathering. The world’s first South Asian a cappella group, Penn Masala, will perform. The group is renowned for blending Hindi and English music into a distinctive sound that bridges cultures.
And at Friday’s Gala, India’s award-winning composer and performing trio, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy will close out AAHOACON. Known for creating some of Bollywood’s most beloved soundtracks, including “Dil Chahta Hai,” “Kal Ho Naa Ho,” “Rock On!!,” and “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,” their music has shaped generations and continues to inspire fans worldwide.
